Greetings from Nettie, your PLATO Pathfinder to the Internet. Welcome back for the 2007-08 school year.
I am returning with great new themed lessons for your classroom. However, this year I have decided to pay extra-special attention to math. We speak and hear the language of math all the time. At the checkout counter. At the gas pump. At the movies. Everything we say involves the basics-addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, whole numbers, fractions, decimals, percents, ratios, and proportions. Math plays a big part in sports, from keeping score in each inning in a baseball game to determining how to position your players. This month, I challenge you to help your students learn more about how math plays a big part in everyday life, even on the playing field. Hurry, learn more before the Baseball World Series begins!
