PLATO® Math Expeditions applies math concepts to real-world situations as learners become members of realistic interdisciplinary expeditions in which math concepts are connected to science, social studies, geography, and history. The courseware also improves basic math skills such as mental math, estimation, and problem-solving skills. Included are online manipulatives and math tools that provide hands-on learning and reproducible student activity worksheets to reinforce skills.
This lesson presents the learners with a practical problem, models a strategy, and then guides learners through the application of the skill. Built-in manipulative tools give learners hands-on experience in the use of mental math, estimation and problem solving.
